The trip:
We will start our Sierra Nevada hike at 9:00 am in the car park of Hoya de la Mora. It is close to the university hostel at an altitude of 2,500m.
The headwaters of river San Juan offer well-preserved mountain meadows and show traces of the glaciers. The area has been declared as a National Park and a Biosphere Reserve.
Landscape and heritage:
- Origin of the landscape and history of the Sierra Nevada
- Ecology: endemic species of plants and animals (butterflies, birds, wild mountain goats)
- Traces of glaciations of the Quaternary period
Equipment recommended:
We will walk in a high altitude area of the Sierra Nevada National Park. We recommend carrying 2L of water. It is necessary to take several kinds of clothes including a warm layer and a raincoat. We recommend hiking sticks. We also recommend wearing hiking boots and a second pair of socks. Sunglasses, sun cream, protective lip cream and a hat.
Logistics:
The participants should bring snacks for the day. It is possible to eat something at the university hostel at the end of our trip.

Purchasing Conditions: Excursions must be booked and paid for at least three days in advance. Participants must arrive at the meeting point on time. The group will wait for participants for five minutes but then leave. In this situation, no money will be reimbursed.
