The trip:
The hike to Siete Lagunas is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Sierra Nevada National Park. Our hike goes through high mountain vegetation. We will cross irrigation channels, streams as well as middle and high-mountain pastures. Hopefully, we will spot some wild mountain goats on our way.
After about 2 hours of ascending we will reach the spectacular 7 Lakes area. First, we will arrive at La Laguna Hondera. This lake is the lowest and largest one. We will have magnificent views of the peaks Mulhacén and Alcazaba. We will discover endemic plants and have our picnic. It is an area with high-mountain lakes and pastures. Those who want to discover the surroundings can explore other lakes and enjoy the stunning setting.
After this time to rest, we will continue descending next to the impressive waterfalls called Chorreras Negras. We will follow the path that goes to Trevelez just for one kilometer. From this point, we will cross the river leaving the most used path and following an unexplored and little-known path. It is a trail used by the cattle breeders and shepherds of the mountains and that is not usually followed by the hikers. Therefore, in this part of the excursion we will find authentically solitary landscapes. The footpath leads to the starting point where the minibus waits for us
