From the Alto del Chorrillo we will start our hike along the path known as ‘La Loma’ (the hill) to the highest point of the whole Iberian Peninsula: Mulhacén (3,479 m). The ascending height difference on this excursion is 820 m at a distance of 5 km. Our guide will explain special features of the high mountain region, the footprints of the glaciers, the characteristics of the ecosystem of the Sierra Nevada National Park and its unique flora and fauna.

At the peak, surrounded by a dramatic landscape, we will have lunch. Depending on the time we will be able to descent by the valley. We will take the SIAC service to Capileira and our private Van to return to Granada.

Landscape and heritage:

  • Stunning views
  • High mountain ecosystems
  • The footprints of the glaciers
  • Endemic flora and fauna: rocky habitats. The unique “Poppy of the Mulhacen” with 200 individuals in the world, eagles, vultures, and other birds.

Equipment recommended:
There isn’t any potable water on the path. We recommend carrying 2l of water. In summer, the weather can be very changeable in the mountains. It is necessary to take several kinds of clothes including a warm coat and a raincoat. We highly recommend hiking sticks. The walking paths are in good condition, but if it has rained, it can be muddy. We recommend wearing hiking boots or trekking shoes. Sunglasses, sun cream, protective lip cream, a hat, gloves and appropriate clothing for the season and the weather forecast.

Participants should take nuts, dried fruits, and sandwiches for our picnic in the countryside.

The SIAC service is the official transport with permission to enter the National Park. The price changes each year. It is around 13€ and has to be paid in Capileira. It does not include.

The price of a “custom date” trip:  €85. 2 people minimum. It includes the guided trip, insurance, and transportation from Granada to Capileira. It doesn’t include the fee of the SIAC Service (13€)
