The Sierra Nevada is located in Andalusia, in the south of Spain and is the southernmost mountain range in Europe. It is protected as a Natural Park, a National Park and a Biosphere Reserve due to its enormous biological diversity, geological features and historical heritage. The middle mountain areas of the Sierra Nevada are home to a wide variety of deciduous trees and fruit trees and with the arrival of autumn these forests are bursting with colours which range from yellow to ochre, with shades of orange and red in between.
